4 APPENDIX'A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Baltimore Gas & Electric Company Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2 License Nos.: DPR-53 Docket Nos.:
50-317 DPR-69 50-318 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on March 16-20, 1981, and in accordance with the Interim Enforcement Policy, 45 FR 66754 (October 7, 1980), the following violation was identified:
Section 3.2.1 of the ETS for Units 1 and 2 requires, in part, that the analytical techniques be such that the Lower Limits of Detection (LLDs) listed in CTS Table 3.2-2 be achieved. The listed LL0s for Sr-89 and Sr-90 in fist bone are 40 pCi/kg (wet) and 8 pCi/kg (wet),
respectively.
Contrary to these requirements, fish bone sampled during the third and fourth quarters of 1980 was not analyzed with analytical techniques so

as to achieve the above specified LLDs for Sr-89 and Sr-90.
This is a Severity Level VI Violation (Supplement II).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Baltimore Gas & Electric Company is hereby required to submit to this office within twenty-five days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including:
(1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violaJons; and l
(3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.
Under the aJthority of Section 182 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, +his response shall be submitted under oath or affirmation.
The responses directed by this Notice are not subject to clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as requir by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
