Chairman Selin asked me to respond to your April 13, 1994 letter inviting the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to join the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (MACRUC).
The-Commission appreciates your
-invitation +o join MACRUC.
As you know, the NRC is a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC).
Commissioner Kenneth C. Rogers represents the NRC at the NARUC meetings held throughout the year and other.NRC staff participate in NARUC activities. The NRC, however, is not a member of any of the regional NARUC conferences.
As a Federal government agency, the Commission believes that it is appropriate to limit its membership to the national organization. Although the Commission does not wish to become an official member of MACRUC, the NRC would be pleased to provid-information and speakers on issues of interest to the mid-Atlantic State Commissions, i
