On behalf of my commission colleagues, I want to congratulate you on your retirement from Federal service and to thank you for your commitment to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
You can take great satisfaction from a long and distinguished career dedicated to the protection of the public health and safety.
Your service with the NRC has heightened our awareness of issues which are of concern to States, and has assisted us in achieving the successful partnership we now enjoy with so many Stats agencies across the nation.
As one measure of your personal impact on that partnership, I have enclosed a copy of a letter I recently received from Mr. Ronald C. Callen of the Michigan Public Service Commission as well as a copy of my response.
As both letters make clear, you were a vital element in the partnership process and very highly regarded both within and outside the NRC.
