and Licensee Performance Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation i

SUBJECT:

MONTHLY UPDATE OF VENDOR INSPECTION BRANCH PART 21 TRACKING SYSTEM - MONTH OF APRIL, 1994 Attached is the April update of the Part 21 database maintained by the Vendor Inspection Branch (VIB).

It identifies those new Part 21 issues appended to the database during the month of April.

In addition to formal Part 21 submittals, it also contains LER, Part 50.55(e), and Part 50.72 issues as well as other communications that were determined to possibly address Part 21 type matters that require review.

If you are aware of any Part 21 type matters that are not included in the database, or if you need additional information regarding the Part 21 issues assigned to your branch or the Part 21 review program itself, please contact Walter.Haass at 504-3219.

It should be noted that the entries shown in the monthly frequently represent the early/ initial notification of the component defect or failure to comply in accordance with Part 21 requirements.

If no closure acronym is shown, the notification remains under review and the root cause of the problem, the corrective action to repair the defect and assure nonrecurrence, and the affected licensees have not been identified at the time of report issuance.

l In this light, the recipients of this report should consider the notification j

entries to be primarily " heads up" information with action expected, in general, only upon the subsequent issuance of specific information from the l

vendor and/or the NRC.
