4 JMY 2 - 1994 Mr. William J. Sinclair, Director
' Division of Radiation Control Dcpartment of Environmental Quality 168 North 1950 West P.O. Box 144850 Salt Lake City, UT 84114-4850
Dear Mr. Sinclair:
This is in response to your March 28, 1994 request for technical assistance on l
a therapy misadministration case.
In providing technical assistance to Agreement States, NRC generally concentrates its resources on those areas l
which an Agreement State may not be able to address through its own expertise or contractual support for its program.
In providing such assistance we would first look to the State to complete its in9estigation and review of the license case or incident.
If the State identifies unusual issues or unique problems based on its investigation, NRC will consider a request for technical assistance to help the State address and resolve such issues.
Since Utah has not completed its investigation of the misadministration, we recommend that the State continue to pursue the investigation and collect and analyze all information requested, but not yet received from the licensee.
In order to assist the State in obtaining assistance from medical physicists, I have enclosed a copy of the NRC consultants list for your use.
You are welcome to contact any of these individuals in order to obtain their services for the State of Utah.
i You may call me or Lloyd Bolling at 504-2327, if you have any questions on this case.
Sincerely, 9405050002 940502 ~
