. P MONTHbY PROGRESS REPORT CONSENT ORDER NO. C-90-91-H PAGE 1 OF 2 RADIOLOGICAL INVESTICATION AND REMEDIATION Radiological field work was limited to surveying and monitoring areas where non-radiological work was performed.

The soil counting system continued to work well.

Approximately 83 samplen were counted during January.

Up-coming radiological projects were evaluated to determine needs and plan work in an efficient and logical manner.

A Draft license (SNM-1999) was received from the NRC.

NON-RADIOLOGICAL ASSEBBMENT AND REMEDIATION Surface water that accumulated on the waste pits and seepage from the french drain were transferred to holding ponds and neutralized.

Holding ponds 1 and 5 were discharged one time each during-December.

Work to expand treatment pond 5 was completed in January, resulting in a capacity of about 1,000,000 gallons.

An additional holding capacity of about 1,400,000 gallons exists between the ditch east of pit 5 (zl,000,000 gallons) and the new holding pond area-(=400,000 gallons).

The ditch east of pit 5 was cleaned cut and new drain systems were installed from pit 5 to the ditch, and from the ditch to the new holding pond area.

Stover & Associates, Inc.,

Stillwater, Oklahoma, is designing improved water treatment systems for treating ponds 1 and 5.

Oil entering Skull Creek between pit 5 and the railroad bridge is being contained with absorbent booms.

Absorbent pads are being used to pick up the oil.

Since completion of the oil interceptor trench, very little oil has been collected from the surface of Skull Creek.

Daily collection of the oil irom the interceptor trench sumps was continued during January.

Stover & Associates, Inc. is designing an automated oil recovery system.

New signs were ordered and installed around the site.

These signs note that this is a restricted area and that visitors must register and be escorted.
