CATEGORICAL EXCLUSION FOR AMENDMENT REQUEST DATED OCTOBER 25, 1990,.AND SUPPLEMENTS DATED FEBRUARY 13, AND MARCH 5, 1991 By letter dated October 25, 1990, and supplement's' dated _ February 13, and March'5; 3991,-CE requested authorization to operate a centrifuge that-has been-relocated as part of the~ facility revitaH zation program.= The centrifuge is part of a closed system where the amount of-U0, in the liquid waste is< reduced sufficiently to allow release of the waste 1 water to the retention tanks. 'The.
operating procedure for the centrifuge will be the same as prior to relocation.
As part of the safety review, the staff has reviewed'the. nuclear criticality-safety considerations. Operation of the centrifuge ~will not cause any adverse effect to the public health and safety-or to the. environment.
The staff. has determined that the following conditions have'been met:
1.-
There is no significant change in the type or significant increase in.the
. amount of any effluents that may be released offsite,,
2.
There is no significant increase-in individual or cumult.tive. occupational radiation exposure, i
3.
There is no significant construction impact,=and 1 :-
4.
There'is no significant increase in the potential for orfconsequencesJ y
from radiological--accidents.
Therefore, in accordance with 10 CFR 51'.22(c)(11), neither.an Environmental Assessment nor an Environmental Impact' Statement 1 warranted-for this proposed action.
