The enclosed Safety Evaluation (SE) addresses relief f rom ASME Code require.
nents concerning visuel examination requiren nts for valve body internal surfaces.
Your request for relief from ASME Code requirenents was submitted by letter dated April 27, 1990.
Based on the review summarized in the enclosed SE, the staf f concludes that the relief granted through this document provides reasonable assurance that the health tod safety of the public will not be endangered by operation in the proposed manner. Therefore, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(6)(i),
we find the relief requested may be granted.
The relief is authorized by law and will not endanger life or property or the common defense and security and is otherwise in the public interest giving due consideration to the burden upon the licensee that could retuit if the requirements were imposed on the facility.
