NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-395/90-32
This refers to the Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC) special Maintenance
Team inspection conducted by E. H. Girard and other members of the team, on
November 13-16, November 26-30 and December 10-14, 1990.
The inspection
examined activities and programs involved in the conduct and support of
maintenance activities at your V. C. Summer facility.
The inspection findings
were discussed with those members of your staf f identified in the enclosed
inspection report on January 10, 1991.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.
The
inspection was performance based and consisted of observations of equipment
conditions and in-process maintenance-related activities, reviews of records
and procedures, and interviews with personnel.
Within the scope of the inspection, violations or deiations were not
identified.
The inspection findings are summarized in the Executive Summary of the
report.
The findings show that your maintenance program and its
implementation are good overall, although some areas needed improvement.
A
noteworthy strength observed during the inspection was your procurement in
support of maintenance.
Your attention is invited to the weaknesses identified in the report.
The
most serious were inadequacies in prescribing and in recording the results of
post maintenance testing.
You had previously identified these inadequacies
and had corrective actions in progress at the time of the inspection.
