SEISMIC DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR CERTAIN CALLAWAY SAFETY RELATED YERTICAL STEEL TANKS (TAC NO. M71762)
As a result of activities related to the technical-resolution of Unresolved Safety Issue (USI) A.40, " Seismic Design Criteria," a determination was made that a potential safety issue existed with regard to the ability of the safety.related refueling water storage tank at your facility to maintain its structural and functional, integrity during postulated earthquake events.
We subsequently requested additional information regarding the adequacy of the seismic -design of this tank. You have provided the requested information.
The staff has -completed its review of your responses. Based on our review of the-information you provided, the staff conc'udes that the design of the refueling water storage tank is in accordance with the guidelines provided in'Section 3.7.3 of Revision 2 to the Standard Review Plan (NUREG.0800),
-your' commitments in the Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR), and other acceptable procedures, and is, therefore,l acceptable.
Our safety evaluation is enclosed.
