Background

1he Nuclear Regulatory Cmmission (NRC) requires translation services to fulfill its untracts and agreements with 22 foreign countries currently holding 5 year Regulatory and Safety, Research Arrangetrents (an additional 6 countries are currently under negotiation for membership).

Tnese 22 foreign countries are members of -a Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperative Program with the NRC for the internatteral exchange of nuclear research technology.

C.I.2 Contra:t Objectives The purpose of this contract is to ensure. that the NRC's mission for-Interr.ctional. cooperation is fulfilled by translating nuclear research and technol_ogy reports that are generated by the 22-countries currently under contract agreements into English or occasionally from English into one of the foreign languages listed under Sectic* B.

The four (4) major groups of languages that will reovire trar.5 ations are Germanic, Romance, Oriental, a*.d Cyrillic.

1 C.1;3 Scope of-Work The contractor shall furnish translation services for reports and other relate: saterial; provided by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission when issued by a formal Work Order.

In-addition, the contractor shall furnish an abstract containing 200 words or less to be-completed.on a* NRC form 335 Bibliographic Data Sheet. ' Materials 3

submitted shall be translated by experienced translators with the

capabilities of. translating texts involving the following u

disciplines:. physics, nuclear engineering, power transmissions, geology, hydrologyi nuclear. physics, thermohydraulics, plant thermalhydraulics, structural engineering.. rist analysis, and radiology-of nuclear power plants. Translations required may consist of nuclear power plant safety analysis and safety evaluation reports-(complete with schematics and diagrams), nuclear health and safety documents, computer program documentation, equipeent qualification, emergency evacuation procedures and other related material, All text for tables and graphics shall also t>e translated. Translations shall be edited by an individual with previous experience as a technical editor / writer before being submitted to NRC.

(3) The Contractor shall cooperate fully with any Federal agency investigating a possible violation described in paragraph (b) of this clause.
