%,.'.....I October 4, 1990 MEMORANDUM FOR:

Eric S. Beckjord, Director Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research FRON:

Edward L. Jordan, Di.,ctor Office for Analysis Evaluation-of-Operational Data

SUBJECT:

OPERATIONS CENTER PHONE NUMBER CHANGE To accommodate the increasing demand for telephone numbers in the Washington, D.C. area, the phone company is implementing changes to their service. One of the effects of these changes is the cancellation of area code 202 access to the NRC Operations Center.

Effective October 1,1990, area code 202 will no longer be available for accessing the NRC Operations Center's 951-0550 commercial phone number used for event notifications required by 10 CFR.

Therefore, effective October -1,1990, only area code 301 should be used and all 10 CFR references to (202) 951-0550 should be revised to be (301) 951-0550.

Your assistance in initiating this revision to the 10 CFR is requested, if you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Ray Priebe (x24333) or Eric Weiss (x29005).
