NRC APPEAL BOARD SCHEDULES AUGUST 23 PREHEARING CONFERENCE IN DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR PLANT PROCEEDING The prasiding Atomic Safety and Licensing Appeal Board has scheduled a prehearing conference August 23, in Bethesda, Maryland, in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing proceeding on operating licenses for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant located near San Luis Obispo, California.
The conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, in the NRC Public Hearing Room. Fifth Floor, fast-West Towers Building, 4350 East-West Highway, Bethesda.
It is open to the public.
In April the Appeal Board granted the motions of the California Governor Deukmejian and the Joint Intervenors to reopen the record in the Diablo Canyon proceeding on the issue of design quality assurance. One of the purposes of the conference is to further narrow the matters to be litigated in the reopened proceeding.
