This refers to the spor.ial, announced safety inspection conducted by
Mr. M. Austin of this office on December 18, 1990 at the Buffalo Materials
Research Center in Bufft.io, New York, for the purpose of reviewing the
status of the licensee's plans and activities relating to the repair and
modificaticn of the reactor tank, and to discussions of our findings held
by Mr. Austin with Mr. L. Henry and others of his staff at the conclusion of
the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative
-
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Wit.hin the scope of this inspection, no violations were noted.
