Gentlemen:
In our response (dated August 15, 1984) to
.Bulletin 83-07, Duquesne Light Company committed to implement a program for random and periodic examinations or tests on a sample of products, such as piping and fittings from our major suppliers of these items.
DLC intends to terminate this program in favor of a more comprehensive program for dedication of commercial grade items which is now in place.
The commercial grado dedication program provides for identification of
" critical characteristics" of an item being purchased and verification of these characteristics by one, or a combination of, the following methods:
1)
Special Tests and Inspections 2)
Commercial Grado Survey of Supplier 3)
Source Verification 4)
Acceptable Supplier / Item Performance Record i
Since this program applies to each purchase of a commercial grade
- item, it should be more effective at preventing the use of misrepresented parts and materials than the previous proseam which was randomly applied.
