Inspector Pete Taylor March 4, 1981 as NCR-7 In compliance with paragraph 50.55(2) of 10 CFR Part 50, this letter constitutes our final report on the subject deficiency.
ITT Grinnell performed magnetic particle or liquid penetrant inspection in accordance with NB-2551(b) (ASME Section III, 1974 Edition, Winter Addenda 1975) on all accessible external and internal surfaces of the fittings in questions. The inaccessible internal surfaces of a selected number (minimum of two from each heat) were examined to ensure the quality of all the heats involved. The selected fittings were removed from the spool pieces by sectioning.
TVA quality assurance personnel reviewed the inspection release and ITT Grinnell packing list and confirmed that the spool pieces in question were reexamined.in accordance with the applicable ASME Section III, 1974 Edition, Winter Addenda 1975 code. TVA has, therefore, determined that these items are acceptable for use and 10 CFR 50.55(e) is no longer applicable to this condition.
