SUBJECT:
CLOSE00T OF AITS F02500316 - EXCESSIVE PRESSURE DROP ACROSS S. P. KINNEY ENGINEERS, INC., SELF CLEANING FILTERS A Vendor Program Branch (VFB) inspection was performed at the S. P. Kinney Engineers, Inc., Carnegie, Pennsylvania, plant on June 8-11, 1981, which included the subject item in the scope.
The results of,the inspection are documented in the attached VPB Inspection Report No. 99900752/81-01.
At the time of the inspection, the VPB were unable to determine whether the problem was truly a component deficiency or was related to systems test practices.
Continuing review of Tennessee Valley Authority 10 CFR Part 50.55(e) submittals on this subject has failed to provide any further clarification, and TVA has reported that they are modifying the Sequoyah, Unit 2 essential raw cooling water system to compensate for the excessive pressure drop across the filters.
The VPB has decided to close the. subject AITS item without further action, in that additional inspection would appear to offer little in regard to development of generic information.
