Routine unannounced physical protection inspection on December 14-16, 1982 (Report No. 70-371/82-16)
Areas Inspected:
Security Plan and Implementing Procedures. The inspection involved 20 inspector hours onsite by one NRC region bued inspector and began during regular hours. Two inspector-hours were accomplished during non-regular hours.
Results:
The licensee was in compliance with NRC requirements in the areas examined during the inspection.

The inspector also interviewed several members of the licensee's contract security force which is supplied by Interstate Security Services, Inc.

30703 - Exit Interview The inspector met with the licensee representatives (denoted in paragraph-
- 1) at the conclusion of the inspection on December 16, 1982. The scope and findings of the inspection were summarized.

92713 - Independent Inspection Effort No violations were identified. The inspection results were attained through a review of a report which documented a 10 CFR 95.25 security infraction. The infraction was the result of a classified repository being unintentionally left unlocked and unattended for approximately eight hours. The infraction was reported to the NRC Division of Security in accordance with applicable regulations.
The corrective actions taken to prevent recurrence appeared adequate.

81218 - Security Plan and Implementing Procedures No violations were identified. The inspector reviewed the licensee's progress with regard to the security program upgrade schedule contained in Chapter 13 of the UNC Naval Products Physical Protection Plan.
The schedule contained construction, modification and installation items required for implementation of tho Physical Protection Plan. The inspec-tor reviewed the monthly status reports submitted, and verified that the status reports accurately reflected progress of equipment modification and installation.
