As discussed with your staff, we are requesting a temporary emergency change to the technical specifications for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant unit 1.
This change would allow operation up to 50 percent power with one recirculation loop out of service.until midnight (CST) January 31, 1983 The enclosure contains the proposed emergency technical specification and a description and justification of the change.
Approval of this change is needed as soon as possible. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
This proposed specification change is being reviewed concurrently by the TVA Nuclear Safety Review Board.
In accordance with the requiremunts of 10 CFR Part 170.22, we have determined this proposed amendment to be Class III for unit 1.
This classification is based on the fact that the proposed amendment involves a single safety issue which does not involve a significant hazard consideration for unit 1.
The remittance for $4,000 is being wired to the NRC, Attention: Licensing Fee Management Branch.
