FROM:
B. J. Younablood, Chief Licensing Branch Ho. 1 Division of Licensinq
SUBJECT:
PERRY HEARING SCHEDULE CHANGE /SSER #3 EVALUATION INPUT REQUEST This is to advise you of the currently targetted start date for the Perry Board hearing, and to schedule your evaluation innuts (as applicable) for the next SER supnlenent (SSER #3).
With respect to the Perry hearing, the Board has reached agreement with the staff, anplicant and intervenor attorney's to reschedule the start of the Perry hearing on Hav 23,1983 (the current Bevill schedule reflects a February 15, 1983 hearing start date). The hearing will take place at the Painesville Admin-istration Center located in Painesville, Ohio. At this tire, seven (7) of the fifteen (15) admitted contention issues have been deleted by the Board or dis-posed of by the process of sumnary disposition and accepted as no longer at issue by the Board. The current list of contention issues is contained in.
For your information, SER Supplement #2 was released to printing on January 12, 1983, Printed copies should be available within the next few weeks. We are scheduling issue of the next suppleaent, SSER #3, at least 30 days prior to the start of the Board hearings, i.e., on or about April 15, 1983. In order for us to meet this target date, your evaluation inputs will be required not later than Friday, March 11, 1983. In providing your inputs, emphasis should be placed on providing the staff's disposition of those contention issues (listed in Attachment
- 1) which remain the subject for hearing. Examples are turbine missile protection, in-core thermocouples, steam erosion, hydrogen control, etc. issues. Emphasis should also be placed addressing the LRG-II issues cited in the SER applicable to Perry, and that inputs recorded therein are correctly related and identified (reference Table 1.1 in Section 1 of the SER). Attachment 2 contains the appli-cant's comitments for addressing the remaining unresolved Perry SER issues, sone of which are contention issues (turbine missiles, in-core themocouples).
Should inforcation be required from the applicant for the staff to address any and all contention /SSER unresolved issues, please let the project manager know imediately.
