UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY C0!! MISSION DOCKET NO. 50-395 VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT NO. 1 NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-12 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 8 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-12, issued to South Carolina Electric
& Gas Company and South Carolina Public Service Authority (the licensees) for the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station, Unit No.1 (the facility) located in Fairfield County, Sauth Carolina.
The amendment was authorized by telephone on December 28, 1982, and was confimed by letter on Decenber 29, 1982.
The amendment authorizes, through July 1,1983, operation of the facility with certain containment isolation valves inoperable.
The amendment was issued on an expedited basis so the facility could change power modes.
The amendment was effective December 28, 1982.
The application for the amendment complies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's regu-lations.
The Commist'on has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Connissica's regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license anendment.
Prior public notice of this amendment was not required since the anend-ment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.
The Commission has detemined that the issuance of this anendnent will not j
result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR l
G51.S(d)(4) an environmental impact statement or negative declaration and environ-mental impact appraisal aced not be prepared in connection with issuance of this aw ndent.
