Status of Petition for Rulemaking: PRM-50-114 l Jan 2020 Date: Friday, January 24, 2020 10:27:00 AM Dr. Lyman:
I am contacting you (on behalf of Mr. Lochbaum who is no longer with the Union of Concerned Scientists) to provide a status update on the petition for rulemaking Mr. David Lochbaum submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), dated September 1, 2016, on behalf of the Union of Concerned Scientists and co-petitioners Jim Riccio (Greenpeace) and Geoffrey H. Fettus (Natural Resources Defense Council). In this petition, Mr. Lochbaum requested that the NRC amend Part 50 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Domestic licensing of production and utilization facilities, to promulgate regulations applicable to nuclear power reactors with operating licenses issued by the NRC but in an extended outage. The NRC docketed Mr. Lochbaums letter as petition for rulemaking PRM-50-114, and the NRC published a notice of receipt in the Federal Register on December 9, 2016 (81 FR 89011). The status of PRM-50-114 can be found at the NRC Rules and Petition page at https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/rulemaking-ruleforum/active/PetitionIndex.html. At this Web site there is a link to a listing of all active NRC PRMs. You can monitor this site for status updates as they become available.
