Proof of Financial Protection Cooper Nuclear Station NRC Docket No. 50-298, DPR-46 Gentlemen:
Enclosed, for your information and use, are three copies of Certificate No. M-41 and Certificate No. N-41 and related endorsements which extend coverage through the calendar year 1983.
Certificate No. N-41 is provided by Nuclear Energy Liability Insurance Association (NELIA) and Certificate No. M-41 is provided by Mutual Atomic Energy Liability Underwriters (MAELU) and represent covera,;e for the Secondary layer of financial of financial protection required under Price-Anderson.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission recently voted to accept the pool's (NELIA and MAELU) Secondary Financial Protection Master Policies as Reguintory Guides.
The policies provided to the NRC in the past were provided as Draf ts and the coverage af forded to individual reactor insureds was afforded through Binders.
As is indicated in each of the outstanding Binders, the Final Master Policy issued by the pools will automatically cancel and replace the original Draft Master Policy and the Binders issued in connection therewith. With the NRC's acceptance of the pool's Secondary Financial Protection Master Policies, all of the Binders have been replaced with Certificates of Insurance retroactive to the ef fective date of the original Binders.
