Enclosed is the report of the environmental monitoring contract (NRC 05-80-275) appraisal by Martin Schumacher and Mary Jane Oestmann of this office on November 22-24, 1982. Their findings were discussed with Thomas Johnson and Lawrence McDonnell of your staff and separately with Dr. Laessig of the State Laboratory of Hygiene on November 24, 1982.
The appraisal included a review of selective records, procedures and i
data, observations, and discussions with involved personnel.
We found that program performance overall was good and satisfied the objectives and conditions of the contract. Significant improvements had been made since our previous appraisal in July 1980.
Some minor weaknesses remain and there is room for improvement in certain areas as discussed in i
the enclosed report. We understand improvements will be made as practicable.
Based on our review, we have recommended renewal of the cooperative l
agreement contract currently in force.
