Waterford SES Unit No. 3 Docket No. 50-382 Potentially Reportable Deficiency No. 97

" Qualification Failure of ITT Barton Model 763 and 764 Transmitters" Final Report

REFERENCE:

Telecon between W. A. Cross (LP&L) and W. A. Crossman (NRC) on December 3, 1982

Dear Mr. Collins:

On December 3, 1982 a problem with deviations in ITT Barton Model 763 and 764 transmitters was reported as Potentially Reportable Deficiency No. 97. The deviations were caused by leakage current paths from

. electronic circuitry to case ground after exposure to high temperature.

This letter is to inform you that after further evaluation, this condition is not considered to be reportable pursuant to the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e) .

EVALUATION Ebasco I&C Engineering has evaluated data submitted by ITT Barton from a test program conducted on model 763 and 764 transmitters based on this analysis. It has been determined that these transmitters will perform within specifications.

Barton has not recalled any of these model transmitters and has not requested that any units at Waterford 3 be returned for testing.

Very truly yours, ,,%7 '
