Subject:

1983 Emergency Plan Exercise

Dear Sir:

Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company and the State of Maine Bureau of Civil Emergency Preparedness have selected Saturday, September 24, 1983 as the scheduled date for the 1983 full scale emergency plan exercise required by 10 CFR 50.47(b)(14) and 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, IV.F.

liaine Yankee representatives have discussed this date with the Chief and other members of your Emergency Preparedness Section on November 30, 1982 and again on December 10, 1982 at the Maine Yankee plant.

We understand, however, that there is a potential conflict with another full scale exercise that is also scheduled in September 1983. We trust this can be resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved and Maine Yankee is willing to work closely with the NRC and FEMA regional offices in this resolution.
