U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission /

Washington, D.C. 20555

Dear Sir / Madam:

On July 20, 1982, I submitted a Freedom of Information Act request, pursuant to 5 USC 552, et seq., for production and disclosure of information discussed below. This letter is a renewal of part of that request. The information requested relates to the transportation of radioactive spent fuel and/or wastes by Virginia Electric Power Company. Specifically I requested (inter alia):

"D. Documents related to noncompliance by VEPCO of nuclear transport regulations."

In a subsequent telephone conversation with Steve Isaacs of your staff, I agreed that Item D (of 4 items) had a lower priority for me than Items A and C. On September 3, 1982 I received the information in Item A, and I was told in the cover letter from Mr. Felton that "The NRC could locate no documents subject to Items B-D of your request."

I would like to clarify, therefore, my request for Item D. I already have one NRC document dated May 28, 1980 related to a violation by VEPCO of nuclear transportation regulations (Docket Nos. 50-280, 50-281, EA-80-28).

Please send any similar documents relating to VEPCO non-compliance with transportation or packaging regulations and all documents (including minutes of meetings, memos, etc.) related to the violation noted in EA-80-28 and to other violations: e.g. the dispositions of the proposed fines.

In addition, please send all documents related to routine or spot , check inspection and enforcement activities specifically related to VEPCO trans-portation activities, 1975-1982, including loading and unloading vehicles and packaging of nuclear materials for transport.

Thanks you for your attention to this renewal of my initial request.

Sincerely, .
