APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Kansas Gas and Electric Company Docket:
STN 50-482/82-16 Wolf Creek Generating Station License: CPPR-147 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted during the period of October 1 to November 15, 1982, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C), 47 FR 9987, dated March 9,1982, the following violation was identified:
Failure to Follow Instructions, Procedures, and Drawings 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, Criterion V requires, in part, that activities affecting quality shall be accomplished in accordance with instructions, procedures, or drawings.
Daniel Work Procedure WP-VII-200, Revision 7, entitled " Field Fabrication of Piping" requires, in paragraph 3.10, that stainless steel piping shall be handled in a manner which prevents direct contact with carbon steel and other metals.
Contrary to the above, stainless steel piping spool S0ll of drawing 1M03BG01 (Q) was observed at elevation 1974' of the auxiliary building to be supported by two carbon steel support stands. The stand closest to Field Weld FW320, which had recently been completed, had two carbon steel rollers directly in contact with the stainless pipe while the other sup-port stand had rollers that were taped over to prevent direct contact.
When this violation was shown to the KG&E QA Surveillance Supervisor, immediate corrective action was taken to alert the craft supervisor who removed and replaced the stands with appropriately protected stands.
This is a Severity Level V Violation.

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Kansas Gas and Electric Company is hereby required to submit to this office, within 30 days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, stating what steps have been or will be taken to avoid further violations and the date when full com-pliance will be achieved.
Consideration my be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
