(1) Letter, Linder to Crutchfield, LAC-8170, dated March 23, 1982 Gentlemen:

As discussed in a telephone conversation between Messrs. Dick Dudley and Frank Akstulewicz of the NRC and Robert Brimer of DPC on December 1,1982, DPC is submitting additional information on post-accident containment radiation dose.

The electrical equipment requiring environmental qualifications located in the LACBWR containment building have been reviewed for its beta radiation sensitivity. The majority of equipment including most cables are enclosed in metal sheathing or enclosures and are considered well shielded from the effects of beta radiation. Replacement or new equipment has been qualified by the guidelines of the IEEE 323-1974 standard. Additional equipment to be qualified or replaced will be reviewed to assure it conforms to the DOR guidelines for existing equipment or IEEE 323-1974 criteria for new equipment.

DPC previously submitted Attachment 1 as part of Reference 1.

This nomogram indicated a slightly higher post-accident radiation dose than originally stated by D%. Since the difference in dose is small and still falls well below typical testing values, LACBWR will use the 00R Guideline Nomogram 6

figure of 8 x 10 R for the 30 day integrated gamma dose as the electrical equipment screening value.
