Mr. Carlton R. Stoiber, Director Office of Nuclear Export and Import Control Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs U.S. Department of State Washington, D.C. 20520
Dear Mr. Stoiber:
Enclosed please find a letter from Saunders-Roe Development, Inc. requesting an amendment to its Export License XB001010. The license presently authorizes the export of 1,300,000 curies of tritium gas to the United Kingdom for the production of light sources.
This amount, however, apparently does ne t cover'all of the material they contracted with Oak Ridge to supply. Saunders-Roe, therefore, requests a further amendment to its license to permit the export of an additional 700,000 curies of tritium gas to the U.K. :This increase, which will amount to a total authorization of 2,000,000 curies, will cover all of the tritium to be supplied by Oak Ridge to Saunders-Rae under previous contracts and the new contract.
i Before taking action on this license amendment, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the proposed amendment meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 as amended by th'e Nuclear Non-proliferation Act of 1978.
Singerely,.
