Dear Mr. Thomas:
As of October 31, 1982, all reactor fuel and fueled experiments, both irradiated and unirradiated, have been removed from the General Electric Test Reactor (GETR) f acilities at the Vallecitos Nuclear Center (VNC).
The only remaining SNM at the GETR are gram quantitles in check sources and neutron detectors.
In view of the non-operating status of the GETR and the absence of material at risk, VNC requests that License TR-1 be amended to exempt the GETR from the physical security requirements of 10CFR50.34(c) and 10CFR73 and from all of the accountability requirements of 10CFR70.51,10CFR70.57, and 10CFR70.58 during the period of time when f ueI and f ueIed experiments are absent f rom the GETR f acilitles.
The requested change and the saf ety analysis are attached.
A check in the amount of $600.00 is attached for the minor amendment fee.
