On November 22,1982 at 10:00' am, PST, an unidentified male called the campus police at the Unive'.sity of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), campus.
The man complained about nuclear power in the United States and stated that a bomb would explode at the campus nuclear reactor at 10:45 am, PST.
The north end of the building containing the reactor was evacuated. A sea ch was conducted by campus security with negative results.
The campus security officer noted that an article concerning the university reactor had appeared over the previous weekend in a San Fernando Valley newspaper, and this may have prompted the call.
Licensee indicated local FBI would be notified.
IAT and Office of Emergency Services, State of California, were notified by Region V.
Na news release is planned by licensee or NRC.
This preliminary notification is rissued for information only and no further action by Region V is anticipated.
Region V received notification of this matter by telephone from the Physical Security Officer, UCL'A, at 11:15 am, PST on Novenber 22, 1982.
