Dear Mr. Musolf:
On June 5,1978 we sent you a letter which provided an acceptable basis for continued operation of the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant Unit Nos.
1&2 while long-term efforts cont 4uc to develop an ECCS evaluation which specifically treats upper plenu' injection. We are aware that long-term development of an ECCS model has been proceeding in a satisfactory manner with the Westinghouse Electric Corporation and the Exxon Nuclear Company, suppliers of fuel for the Prairie Island facility. We request that you submit the ECCS models which specifically treat the upper plenum injection on your docket for our review. With each model you should include a set of sample calculations encompassing a spectrum of large break LOCAs. This information should be provided on or before December 15, 1982.
The information requested in this letter affects fewer than 10 respondents; therefore OMB Clearance is not required under P. L.96-511.
