Revise the drawings of the packagings to show the location and construction of the lifting devices, location and dimensions of all welds, thread sizes on caps and support tubes, and complete dimensions and materials of construction of the shielding plugs, support tubes (including maximum clearance between shield plugs and support tubes), and caps.
2.
Provide the qualification and inspection criteria for all welds and provide the specification on the drawings for the WEP shielding inaterial.
3.
Specify the torque required to maintain the cap (s) on the support tube (s).
4.
Revise the package drawing to show the 1ccation and size of the vent holes or other devices provided for the escaping gases generated by the decomposition of the HEP. This should include the outer packaging, support tube and shield plug. During normal conditions of transport, these vent holes should be covered to preclude entry of rain water.
STRUCTURAL 1.
Show by testing or analysis that lifting devices comply with the requirenents of 10 CFR and 71.31(c).
If conpliance is demonstrated by analysis, the maximum shearing stress in the portion of stainless steel imediately above the hand holds should be calculated and shown r.ot to exceed the yield strength of the material.
2.
Show that tie-down devices (both through the handles and/or legs) comply with the requireuents of 10 CFR and 7.31(d). The package should be capabic of withstanding 2G vertical,10G longitudinal, and SG transverse forces simultaneously. Provide a sketch of the uverall tic-down system.
3.
The drawings do not show the load spreader plate that was used on the top of the drun under the closure cap during the puncture tests. Demonstrate that for a puncture directly onto the cap, the contents will not be released from the packaging.

S!!!ELDING Specify the thickness of the shielding plug in the top of the support tubes for each of the _ reported radiation profiles. Describe how these thicknesses have been taken into account when cosapared to the dimensions of the shield plugs shown on the drawings of the support tubes.
