Enclosed are forty (40) controlled copies of revised pages of the document entitled, " Environmental Qualification Report for Class lE Equipment for Shoreham Nuclear Power Station - Unit 1."

These pages comprise Revision 4, October 1982. Significant changes from Revision 3 are as follows:

1) Revision to Appendix B, Equipment Qualification Summaries
2) Update of Appendix F, Equipment Qualification Status Report
3) Additions to and organization of Appendix H, Justification for Interim Operation; a) for consistency, the entire August 1982 submittal of Appendix H is included with four justifications having been revised (Rev. 4), b) all out-standing justifications have been included in this revision, and c) Appendix H has been organized by mark numbers.

These justificgtions are submitted in response to the NRC Staff requirement fok them in their Safety Evaluation Report trans-mitted by NRC letter dated September 20, 1982 from A. Schwencer to M. S. Pollock. These justifications for interim operation provide assurance that the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station can be safely operated pending completion of the environmental qualifi-cation program.

It is LILCO's understanding that, with the submittal of these justifications, sufficient information has been submitted to the staff such that all items covered by SER Issue No. 9, Environmental Qualification, with the exception of GE Series 200 electrical penetrations, can be closed.
