SUBJECT:

Interim Report, Wolf Creek (Ks.) Nuclear Power Station (NPS)

This is a written response to a telephone call from Mr. Perry Robinson of your staff on September 14, 1982, requesting a status report on the Wolf Creek NPS.

In a return call on September 21, 1982, the following information was provided by my office.

Present plan development for offsite safety is progressing well. The Kansas State plan is nearly complete. The county plans (Coffey and Anderson Counties) have been completed and procedures are now being developed.

The utility is working on a combined siren and tone alert warning system with financial participation by the counties.

The preparations for offsite safety are progressing on schedule and complete plan evaluations (A through P) will follow at the appropriate time. An NRC requested date for a plan review is scheduled for April 1,1983.
