Dear Dr. Wogman:

I have reviewed your monthly report for the Edgemont Cleanup Action Program (B-2217) for August,1982, and have the following comments:

1.

Your supplementary survey procedures for use in areas close to the mill may.be used when external radiation attributable to the mill interferes with the gamma screening survey.

In order to document the effectiveness of the collinated survey meter as a screening tool for choice of soil sampling locat ons you should submit a graph or i

table which shows the relationship between collimated gamma readings and radium in soil concentrations eben the data becomes available.

2.

You should submit copies of the completed ARIX reports to flike Tucker of the DOE, Grand Junction office and to the State of South Dakota. Copies sent to South Dakota should be marked

" Preliminary."

3.

The first set of completed RPISU results were received under separate cover and are being reviewed separately.

All other aspects of your August,1982 report were adequate. The actions taken by this letter are considered to be within the scope of the current contract (B-2217). No changes to costs or final delivery of contracted products is authorized.

Please notify me immediately if you believe this letter would result in changes to costs or final delivery of contract
