\\., v.e

.....f OCT 141982 MEMORANDUM FOR: The Files FROM:

James V. Zimmerman, Assistant Director Export / Import and International Safeguards Office of International Programs

SUBJECT:

PROPOSED LICENSE TO EXPORT COMPONENTS TO BELGIUM (XCOM0674)

On October 7,1982, Westinghouse Electric Corporation applied for a license to export cable assemblies to Belgium for use in the Tihange 2 Nuclear Power Reactor.

The applicant has requested expeditious processing of the license application as the equipment is ready for immediate shipment and is urgently required.

The staff has concluded that the proposed export meets the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended, and, would not be inimical to the common defense and security of the United States.

In view of the above considerations, the staff issued the license without the normal 15-day waiting period.
