In Generic Letters 82-05 and 82-10 dated March 17, 1982 and May 5,1982, respectively, the NRC forwarded to all holders of operating reactor licensees a list of proposed completion dates for selected TMI-related items. In these letters the NRC also requested that all licensees provide justification and detailed schedule information for those items that would not be completed by the proposed dates. Accordingly, we provided the desired information in References (a) and (b). The purpose of this letter is to provide you with an update of our progress in closing out these TMI-related actions.
With the exception of four items, all of the action items we had discussed in References (a) and (b) have been completed. Our progress (or position) on these items is reiterated below for your information.

- Noble Gas Steam Effluent Monitor l
Installation of a reliable system contin 0es to be a problem. As discussed with you earlier, we expect to have an operational system installed in Unit I no later than June 1,1983. Sufficient progress in acceptability testing is being demonstrated by the vendor such that shipment from the factory may be possible by-the end of October or in November of this year. o Mr. R. A. Clark October 12,1982 the plant next month, we will make a good-faith effort to install a system in Unit 2 during the upcoming fall outage. Nevertheless, it is not unreasonable to expect that delivery, installation and testing problems may develop which will delay operability until some date after the Unit 2 outage. Therefore, we propose that the completion date for Unit 2 be made common with that of Unit 1; i.e., June 1,1983, to allow sufficient margin to deal with such problems.

- Containment Water level Monitor This item had been initially considered complete; however, a deficiency was found after an initial period of successful operation (see our letter to R. A. Clark, dated January 19, 1982).
Installation of an instrument of improved design in Unit I has been completed. Installation in Unit 2 will be completed during the upcoming fall outage.

- Upgrade Emergency Support Facilities Our Emergency Operations Facilit, (EOF) is still scheduled to be completed by the end of 1983. Our Interim EOF continues to perform those functions necessary to implement our Response Plan.
