ENCLOSURE OIE BULLETINS 79-02 AND 79-14 SCHEDULE BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (DOCKET NOS. 50-259, -260, -296)

Reference:

TVA letter from L. M. Mills to J. P. O'Reilly dated June 18, 1981 The extent of inspections required by IE Bulletin 79-14 has been reviewed, and it has been determined that parts or all of the following systems also require inspection.

1.

Containment Inerting System 2.

Control Bay Air-Conditioning Piping 3.

002 Fire Protection System 4.

EECW (in the Pumping Station only) 5.

RHRSW (in the Pumping Station only) 6.

Secondary Containment Penetrations (several systems involved)

The additional inspections began September 7, 1982 and are expected to be complete December 30, 1982 with the exception of the CO2 fire protection system penetr.ation inspections which are scheduled to be completed by February 1, 1933 By the referenced letter the schedule for the evaluation work of Phase II was provided. That schedule showed unit 1 evaluation to be complete by April 1, 1984. It is now expected that because of additional workload for the TVA Division of Engineering Design in support of unit 1 torus modifications the evaluation work will r.ot be completed until August 1, 1984. This change in the schedule for unit 1 is not a result of the additional inspections identified above. The Phase II schedule dates for units 2 and 3 remain unchanged.

At this time no changes to the Phase III schedule have been identified.
