8 A

In the early afternoon I was given the assignment 9

by Jim Deddens, I believe.

10 g

Please tell me what the assignment was.

'll What did he ask you to do?

12 A

His assignment.was for me to take notes of infor-

""ti " ****iV*d "ith **9"#d t th* t#""81*"t' th' 13 information that was being received by phone communica-tions with the site, and any otner nformation that 15 happened to come in from whatever source.

16 Q

So his instructions to you were to record 17 incoming information to B&W?

18 His instructions, to the best of my recollection, A

19 were to take notes on the course of events during the 20 day.

21 Q

Did that also include discussions here at

\\

B&W as well as inf rmation that wac incoming from the 22 f

outside world?

23 A

His instructions were no more explicit than that.

' 24 f

terms of the kind of information they include?

4 A

They include information that was received from whatever source mentioned in here, and they include a

recommendations made at which time I was present when 6

they were formulated and also transmitted to the site.

"i Q

Where you have notes of a telephone conver-8 sation, were you able to hear both ends of the tele-l 9

phone conversation?

10 A

Yes, sir, i

l 11 Q

Is that because you were on a speakerphone?

12 A

Squawk box, speakerphone, yes.

20 own ears from the person speaking it?

Q And if it was a conversation that is indi-4 cated here, it was because you heard that conversation

""d ""d*

f it?

i, 5

A Yes, that is correct.

b Q

Did anyone else supply you with information 7

indirectly which made their way into the notes here?

8 A

I believe the page you have in front of you, yes, 9

from J.

D.

Phinney.

10 Q

At what timd did you start taking these 11 notes?

12 A

Approximately 7:45.

Q In the evening?

13 A

In the morning.

Q You said you got the assignment in the la, g

early afternoon.

16 A

That's right.

17 How could you have taken the notes in the Q

18 morning if you did not get the assignment until early 19 afternoon?

20 A

As part of my job as plant startup and test P anning and task engineer, I generally take notes.

l 21 had been performing the function of

\\-

Q 22 note taking throughout the day?

23 A

For my own edification, I had been doing that.

24 Q

zou have put in certain times in the notes, 25 BENJAMIN REPORTING SERVICE D.F #

3 or references to time of day that some events occurred, 4

or that you received certain information which went int y ur n tes.

H w did y u ascertain those times?

5 A

With my watch.

Q They were not reconstructed later?

7 A

The times?

8 Q

Yes.

9 A

No, sir.

10 Q

so when you put down, for instance on 11 Page 3,

" Basics of 0745 telephone conversation," it is 12 because you looked at your watch at the time of the telephone conversation, and saw it was 07457 13 A

I may have at times like, for instance, the 0745 phone call, I knew that I came to work at approximately

~

la, 7:45, automatically ' started taking notes when I heard-g 16 about the conversation going on, and them sometime 17 during the conversation at a br ak may have gone back 18 and said, approximatelY 7:45.

19 Where the time was not exact per my watch, I 20 think I almost always put an approximation mark in 21 front of the time.

\\-

Q Were y u in the simulator at all on the 22 d

28th?

23 A

No, sir, not in the simulator, j

Q Have you had a chance to review these notes 25 BENJAMIN REPORTING SERVICE

4 A

Yes, sir.

g In making that review, have you been satis-5 fied that the notes are accurate to the best of your ability to record them at the time on the date of the 7

28th?

8 A

I am satisfied that the notes that are there are 9

an accurate picture of the way that I received the 10 information.

^'

  1. 2 11 Q

Have you made any corrections in the notes 12 upon reviewing them at any later date than the 28th?
