MOTOR-OPERATED VALVE ISSUES WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE PROCESS FOR CLOSING OUT GENERIC LETTER 89-10 l

I am extending an invitation to Region I licensees to participate with the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) and Region I representatives in a discussion of Generic Letter (GL) 89-10 motor-operated valve programs.

Special emphasis will be placed on the NRC's expectations for completion of GL 89-10 programs, and on our intended closure process for that Generic e

Letter.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 1994, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Park Ridge Hotel, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania (610-337-1800). The meeting is open for public observation and will be l

attended by NRC Region I and NRR staff. We request that you consider sending 2 to 3 members of your staff and management associated with the GL 89-10 program.

To make the meeting as productive as possible, please provide a preliminary t

list of questions / issues, and indicate who will represent you at the meeting i

by October 18, 1994. Those questions and issues will form the bases for

~

additional discussions. We also intend to present overviews by both NRC and utility managers, presenting their perspective on GL 89-10 issues. An agenda for the meeting is attached for your information.
