This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. M. Runyan and C. Myers of
,
this office on August 22-26. 1994.
The inspection included a review of
r
activities authorized for your Waterford Steam Electric Station. Unit 3.
~
facility. At the conclusion of the inspection.-the findings were discussed
with those members of your staff. identified in the enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. The
inspection verified completion of your commitments to Generic Letter 89-10,
-
" Safety-Related Motor Operated Valve Testing and Surveillance." The closure
of your activities related to commitments made for Generic Letter 89-10 is
'
contingent on your submitting, within 60 days of the date of this report, a
letter documenting additional commitments related to periodic verification and
post-maintenance testing of motor-operated valves, and our subsequent approval-
.
of your submittal. This matter is discussed in more detail in Section 1.6 of-
the enclosed report.
The inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and
representative records and interviews with personnel.
The results of this
inspection are documented on page 1 in the enclosed report.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice." a copy of
this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
