CLOSE0VT OF IE BULLETIN 80-08, " EXAMINATION OF CONTAINMENT LINER PENETRATION WELDS" In its initial responses to IE Bulletin 80-08, Northern States Power (NSP) identified two penetration butt welds with backing rings in Prairie Island, Unit 1, which were ultrasonically tested but could not be successfully radiographed as required by the Bulletin. By letter dated December 5,1988, NSP provided additional information for staff review, per recommendations made in NUREG/CR-3053, "Closecut of IE Bulletin 80-08: Examination of Containment Liner Penetration Welds," for resolution of this issue.
The staff has reviewed the information submitted by NSP and finds it acceptable.
We, therefore, considered Bulletin 80-08 to be closed for Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.
