APPRECIATION FOR PROVIDING SUPPORT TO THE JOINT COORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR CI','!LIAN NUCLEAR REACTOR SAFETY (JCCCNRS), WORKING GROUP 4, FIRE SAFETY PROGRAMS On March 18-20, 1991, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the staff of the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant assisted the Nuclear Regulatory Commission by hosting and participating in the third meeting of JCCCNRS Working Group 4, Fire Safety Programs. TVA's couperation and support toward achieving the goals and objectives of this program, alor.g with the high quality of the information presented by TVA staff participants in this meeting, are commendable. General Anatoiy Mikeev and the Soviet delegation found the technical informa-tion presented to be very informative. In addition, the Soviet delegation indicated that they were very impressed with Sequoyah's fire prevention admin-istrative controls, the plant's passive fire protection and automatic fire suppression and detection features, and the high level of cleanliness within the plant. The Soviet delegation was also very impressed with the manual fire fighting equipment in the plant and the fire brigade's state of readiness to handle various fire and rescue emergencies. The Soviet delegation's visit to the Nickajak Fire Brighde Training Facility assisted them in developing a strong understanding of the intensity and the level of training that the fire brigades receive.
