Dy letter dated April 17, 1991, IJew Hampshire Yanke (fiHY) requested a revision to the test frequcncy currently arplied to the megger testing cf eli safety and nen. safety related cables.

The intent of this cabic megger testing was to detect any cable degtadation which potentially could result in cable failures.

The staff has evaluated !!HY's submittel and finds that the n(w proposed surveil.

lance frequencies are adequate to detect any pot (ntial cable degradation without unnecessarily increasing the probability of equipment unavailability during the test period. The staff concludes that the ievised testing program will continue to provide adequate assurance that ceblos at the Seabrook Station are capabic of performing their design function, and the proposed schedule is in agreement with that retomoended by AtlSI.t:frA.70B, 1977. Therefore, we find the proposed change to be acceptable. Enclosed is our safety evaluation. This action closes TAC 80190.
