Notification of Use of Respiratory Protection Factors Gentlemen:

Current regulations (10 CVR 20.103(g)) require notification 30 days prior to the use of respiratory protection equipment under the provisions of Part 20. Since Maine Yankee, was originally authorized to make allowance for the use of respiratory protection equipment and under the provisions of sub paragruph (f) of the amended 20.103 as published in the Federal Register 8/21/74, we may not be required to submit such notification. We are nevertheless informing you that our upgraded Respiratory 1

Protection Program is scheduled for full implementation by April 1, 1991.

As part of the upgrade, we plan to take credit for the use of respiratory protection factors 1

-in accordance with the provisions of Appendix A of 10 CFR 20.
