Gentlemen:
This refers ta the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. A. W. Markley
c
of this office during the period November 26 through 30, 1990, of activities
at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 & 2, authorized by NRC Operating
License No. DPR-24 and No. DPR-27 and to the discussion of our findings with
Mr. D. Johnson and others of your staff following the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in
violation of NRC requirements as described in the enclosed inspection report.
One non-cited violation was identified in the area of posting and control of
radioactively contaminated areas.
This violation was non-cited because the
criteria in the Enforcement Policy were satisfied.
Consequently, no response
is required and we have no further questions regarding this matter at this
time.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
