I This is to inform-the Board that more recent information is available with respect to two aspects of the Staff's testimony on Contention 78. As discussed in the enclosed affidavit of Ashok C. Thadani, the ' information provided by the Staff at hearing on the systems ' interaction program should be updated as follows:
- 1) the National Reliability 1 Evaluation Program (NREP) discussed briefly in Staff testimony has now been superceded by a proposed Independent Safety Assessment Program (ISAP); and 2) the ~ schedule for the Staff's decision-making on the systems interaction program has slipped approximately three months.
0ther than as described in the Thadani affidavit, the testimony given and the positions taken by the Staff on Contention 7B remain unchanged.
