TRIP REPORT - EPA SCIENCE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING -
JULY 25 AND 26, 1983 Relatively little was accomplished by the Board at this meeting.
The attached note prepared by M. J. Wise following the July 12-13 meeting summarizes the Board's positions on major issues.
While the Board had planned to vote on unresolved issues at the July 25-25 meeting, several Board members seemed unprepared, and no votes were taken.
The chairman of some of the subgroups did submit written statements for consideration by other board members, but these statements were not made available to people other tilan the Board.
The only significant things to come out of the meeting were:
A few Board members seemed to be leaning away from numerical probability definitions, and Several Board members expressed a lack of enthusiasm for (or opposition to) some or all of the assurance and procedural requirements.
Terry Lash, in particular, seemed to be siding with the NRC on numerical probabilistic and the assurance requirements.
